Summer is here!

“Summer afternoon – summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.” ~Henry James

Summer has definitely arrived here in Rhode Island! Here are some of the things that I have been up to:

For Mother’s Day, my awesome husband made me my favorite dinner… Lobster! (Don’t you just love the spatula!)

My Daughter and I traveled to Western Massachusetts to see my youngest sister graduate from college. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications Media from Westfield State College.  This was an such a spectacular achievement to me as she worked full time for most of the time that she was completing her degree! I don’t know how she did it!   Continue Reading »

Testy

Testy seems the most appropriate title for this post as there has been a lot of “testing” in my life the past few weeks!

It seems as though I am constantly being tested by a very quick-witted toddler. She’s lucky that she is cute! The emotional instability of a toddler can be oh so draining on the parents! The intense flurry of  “why’s” have started, and although I try to turn the question on her most times, there are only so many “whys” that someone can take! We will soon being visiting a nursery school and hope that she will be starting in the fall. It would be so nice to get her around more kids!

Last weekend I finished up the Felted clog slippers that I was making for one of my best friends…. I am not good at keeping secrets sometimes and showed them to her while they were in progress… She loves them!

Even in the busiest weeks… I usually finish 1-2 projects. This is mostly because I like small, quick satisfying projects.

This week is definately not going to be one of those weeks!

I am currently working on a hooded sweatshirt style sweater for my cousin who is about to turn one in April. I have only made one other sweater before, and it was actually for him! I gave it to my aunt at her baby shower. The sweater I chose is called Kids Kangaroo by Mary Rich Goodwin from the book Rich Designs Kids to Grown-Ups Seamless Sweaters. There is almost no seaming for this entire sweater! Absolutely right up my alley as I HATE seaming! This sweater is worked from the top down, starting with the hood. I have been working on this project since Thursday Feb 25th… however I was away this weekend and got very little knitting done. By Monday, I had complete the hood and neck, placed markers for the sleeves, front and back, and started the body. I have been at a stand still since then as I need to pick up a new pair of needles at my LYS and haven’t had the time. Fortunately for me, tomorrow is open-knit night and the shop is open late so I can shop and knit!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all! I hope that everyone enjoyed their holidays! I know that I did! This year was a whole new kind of Christmas at our house…. its amazing how kids can change our outlook on most everything! The wonder and awe of Santa, and the excitement of presents was difficult for my two year old to contain. It was so awesome to watch! One of the best Christmas gifts I received was from my employer, a week vacation between the holidays! I spent the majority of the time hanging out with the K’ster and knitting!

Here are some of the things I was able to accomplish since my last post:
Steve’s Slippers: I finally finished them off with leather bottoms

I used twine to attach the bottoms which was painstaking, but much worth it! He loves them and wears them constently!
